My Life as a Realtor – Day 49
Kids back to school after a long weekend… Boo-Hoo, no more wearing white! As I am writing this, Joe is in flight – somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean, coming back from Portugal after 2-1/2 weeks. He’s due to arrive in Newark Airport in New Jersey at around 1:30 this afternoon. My dilemma will be picking him up from his sister’s house (Joe, his sister Isabel, brother-in-law Frank and youngest nephew, Daniel – are flying in together and our oldest nephew, Michael will be picking them up – Whew, I know!) OK, so all I have to do is be in Mt. Vernon, NY – which the distance from my home in New Fairfield, CT to there is about 50 minutes – which means I have to leave Connecticut at around 3:30. No problem, except… I also have an appointment in Southbury, CT – about 35 minutes in the opposite direction - and I have to make a special “Welcome Back” dinner. OK, time to have faith that all will work out – I get frustrated thinking that I can’t do it all – that I’ll have family and clients disappointed in me.

It’s a good thing I’m busy this morning with work and my household chores – this will help speed the day up. Starting this morning off – after my youngest 3 were all in school by 7:30 am – I read an article on AOL about a mother, Molly Chen, who was inspired to start a business while feeding her son and watching Oprah. Her business idea was clip on bibs – instead of tieing them around a babies neck, they snap on to a matching onesie - I thought of how many bibs I went through with my 5 children’s feedings and drooling. Check out her bibs for babies – Bibs and Match, LLC ~ CLICK ~
Southbury, CT
Got to work – cleaning – started dinner – and off I was to my appointment – David was picking up hubby hub - Hot Diggity Dog – problem solved! Melissa watched dinner in the oven while I showed a very nice home and was able to submit an offer – although, after speaking with the listing agent, I found out that there is a full asking price offer on the table – just came in this afternoon – but, I still have hope! I also spoke with 2 other agents – one giving me a referral for commercial property – the other to do him a favor and show a listing to clientsof his since he will be out-of-town – also spoke with a client who increased her offer on a multi-family home and gave some information and advice to another client who’s also interested in also submitting an offer. Busy day – and I Love Busy Days!

Day 48:
It’s Labor Day! And yes, I worked – all day long! I was mostly glad to have written a few Blog posts – I’m all set for the next few days.
Joe a week before leaving at his brother’s home for a BBQ
I’m still having issues calling Portugal – and Joe comes home tomorrow – Yahoo! I can’t believe how quickly 2 – 1/2 weeks have gone by.

Day 46:
What a wonderful day today… I could breathe! Thanks to the steroids that were administered yesterday at Danbury Hospital, my lungs were clear and my asthma is 99% gone!

I also heard from a client who I haven’t heard from in about a year. I’ve been sending listings and time to time she’d e-mail back. Being a Realtor® and having patients and understanding helps tremendously since purchasing a home can take time helps tremendously.
I set up appointments – 3 homes in Brookfield, Newtown and Bethel – picked up my clients and had some great conversation in the car.
Then Jonathan and I went to Shaw’s for some grocery shopping, bought some wine at Fairwood Wines & Liquors in New Fairfield which is conveniently located near Shaw’s and Starbucks. Back home to whip up dinner and get back to work – made appointments for tomorrow – phone calls – e-mails – searching listings – reading…

Day 44:
Today is Thursday and I worked from home again and… A cleanin I will go, A cleanin I will go, High-Ho the cherri-o,…. Sorry, just had to get myself into the mood! Everyday I do 4 to 6 loads of laundry – remember, 5 kids – I vacuum/swiffer and dust daily – mostly due to having 2 dogs, a cat and 2 birds. And of course there’s the cooking, dishes, beds, tidying up, watering my plants & flowers… and we can’t forget the heavy cleaning – the entire kitchen, bathrooms, floors,… This can eat up hours every day, even with multitasking. And it doesn’t help that I have Remi grabbing dirty laundry and running away with it, taking all my cleaning utensils he can get a hold of and he LOVES the attacking the vacuum hose. Sometimes, I have to lock myself in a room, just to get a simple task completed – but just look at that face… how can I ever get upset with my Wuba-Wuba!
Remi
Was in touch with a few clients, one who is purchasing a foreclosure – another looking to do a Hubbard Clause and have a price reduction on their listing – and my client, and now friend, that I’ve been working with for almost 2 years and 9 months. She has been waiting since Spring for a decision from the bank on a full asking price offer on a short sale – she had decided to no longer wait and is moving to Florida. She so deserves a change and I wish her only the best! I am not looking forward to calling the listing agent in the am – she’s worked so hard on this offer, but the bank just took unbelievably too long!

Spoke again with a professional Home Stager – Neil with letmeorganizeyou.com – who can help my clients re-organizer and declutter their home making it more appealing to potential buyers. Check out his website above.

Kids started school today – Yippee! I was so excited for them, I couldn’t get to sleep last night – you’d think it was my first day back to school!
Cell Phone Pic – Driving into School Entrance – New Fairfield Schools
Phone calls – e-mails and texting through-out the day. What’s great is I could do all of this anywhere – anytime! Some of my clients are night owls – just like me – so getting a message from them at midnight, or later, doesn’t faze me a bit. Other Realtors just don’t understand why I never turn my phone off – NEVER! I say - since it would drive me crazy wondering if I have a message – one that usually only takes a few minutes of my time and makes both me and my client happy. So, turn OFF my phone – NEVER!!

Tender Years – Another I-Tunes Song
Does anyone remember the movie – “Eddie and the Cruisers” – I just came across “Tender Years” – one of the songs that was sung in the movie by John Cafferty – and I had to add it to my I-Tunes.

Day 41:
It is the last day of summer vacation for the kids. Melissa actually starts her college classes over at West Conn today – David tomorrow. And Amanda, Sara and Jonathan also start classes tomorrow at New Fairfield Middle and High School. I am not looking forward to having to get up very early – so working until the wee hours will have to change.
Made a quick run with Sara and Jonathan back to Marshall’s to exchange a pair of Jonathan’s jeans. Then stopped at Staples to pick up some school supplies – their actual lists will be given on the first few days of school from each teacher. After paying exactly $242.00 – I couldn’t help but think – this is only the beginning – I will be back at least another 2 more times! The good thing is, Staples always has what I need – but just in case, Wal-Mart is in the same shopping center as well as Marshall’s and HomeGoods – and it’s an easy 15 minutes or so drive from home!

Soccer practice for Jonathan started today. I am thankful that I live just under 5 minutes from the New Fairfield Schools -

Dinner was Meatballs and Spaghetti – Jonathan’s favorite and a change from all the grilling.

Day 40:
Today – Melissa, David and Jonathan – came with me to the Danbury Fair Mall in Danbury. We needed to pick up Amanda’s contacts and order Melissa’s contacts from Cohen Optical…

Then we went to the Sprint store to purchase David a new cell phone – the Blackberry Curve. Then we grabbed a bite to eat – Chinese Buffet…

and then off to my sister’s home in New Fairfield. We went to see her new master bath – which is coming out BEAUTIFUL!! The white tile, nickel brushed faucets and accents, deep rich colored cabinetry and painted red walls – striking! Now I really want to renovate my master bath – but I can’t seem to get started on painting my kitchen cabinets.

Back home – and back to work.

Day 39:
Another rainy day – so since we’re limited to doing indoor activities, it was back to finish up our school shopping. We did good yesterday, but we still needed sneakers and backpacks and a few other items to purchase. So it was off to Bob’s in Danbury – I had a great coupon to use, so deciding where to go was easy!
Afterwards, we passed by my brother’s home in Brookfield, CT. They have been renovating just about every room and I am amazed every time I go since there is always something new to see. My sister-in-law, Leia, has a knack for interior decorating and I am inspired and look forward to every visit.

Then it was back home – and back to work.
