My Life as a Realtor – Day 86
My Life as a Realtor~
Day 86:
It’s getting cold outside – so cold, it snowed today! We’ve been using our pellet stove and fireplace to keep the house warm and cozy.
I went into the office – ran some errands and couldn’t believe it was snowing in October! I am NOT ready for this – so hopefully, fall weather will be back and then we could gradually work our way into winter.

Day 85:
Wednesday – Realtor Open House Day! Lot’s to do before heading into the office, including working on a new offer.
Today’s Open Houses were great – Carolyn, Eva, Faith and I set out to view our first home in Carmel, NY – 32 Brookview Drive, Carmel, NY ~ CLICK ~ to view listing sheet. An absolutely lovely home, with a very talented owner – I felt as though I was walking through an art gallery, viewing beautiful paintings. What a pleasure to be able to preview it for potential clients!
We moved on to house #2 – in the town of Kent, NY - 4 Mamanasco Road in Kent, NY ~ CLICK ~ to view listing sheet. This home is an estate – a great buy with lots of potential. House #3 was in Patterson, NY – 48 Morningside Dr, Patterson, NY ~ CLICK ~ to view listing sheet. Another lovely home just waiting for a new homeowner! And last, but not least, house #4 in Brewster, NY – 9 Tea House Lane – Brewster, NY ~ CLICK ~ to view listing sheet - This gated home has stunning architectural details throughout!

Day 83:
Columbus Day! Kids are off from school – I went into Danbury – then to the office… Century 21 VJF Realty - Home Depot… for the 10th time this month! My last stop before going home was A & P.
Home Depot
received a buyer call – Yahoo! – while I was in the office – someone looking for land – also got my listings together for tomorrow’s appointment with my First Time Home Buyer.
Joe is getting the house ready for winter – Ugh! He insulated Amanda and Sara’s outside bedroom wall that leads into the attic above the garage – no insulation - Mmmm – guess that’s why their room seems to always be chilly. Joe also painted the front doors and finished insulating all the windows around the doors. Maybe… just maybe, I won’t freeze my butt off this winter!

My Life as a Realtor – Day 81

Day 81:
Saturday – Joe was up early to meet our brother-in-law, Frank. They were meeting to go to a local vineyard to purchase grape juices to make wine! Many vineyards sell grapes juice at the time of harvest. These juices are pressed from their grapes and not treated with preservatives – making homemade wine easy as pie!
Joe chose Cabernet and Merlot – a change from last year. In a few weeks, we’ll have wine that will last us an entire year, all for approximately $8 per gallon!
I worked from home and enjoyed a nice, but cooler evening – Remi and Tisha don’t seem to mind…

Day 80:
Closing Day! Met with my client this morning to do the walk-through before closing.
A Rainy – but wonderful Closing Day!
We made sure all was well with the house and then headed to the attorney’s office in Danbury, CT.
The Closing Table
All went very well during the closing. Afterwards, it was back to work, grocery shopping, gassed up the car, and yes – do you really think I couldn’t go a few days without a trip to…
Home Depot!
I can’t wait to be done with all the painting and renovations! That is now what my clients will be doing with their new house - many trips to purchase items to make their new house a home!
Chocolate Chip Banana Bundt Cake – Foodista

Day 79:
It’s Thursday – and my closing for tomorrow is confirmed – Yahoo! I am so happy for my clients. They are First Time Home Buyers and so looking forward to their first home.

More good news… Fo-Fo – my in-law’s dog that we have been watching since June – left today – another Yahoo! To everyone who didn’t know him, he looked like a cute Koala Bear – but get too close, and you’d lose a finger, or two!

Since my in-laws flew in from Portugal today, David gave Fo-Fo a bath and Joe drove him down to Mt. Vernon, NY. He also had dinner with his family in celebration of their parents return. The kids and I had a simple – easy – and inexpensive dinner – pasta. I also sauted peppers, onion and spicy portuguese chorizo – Yum, Yum. And Amanda made an oh-so-awesome Banana Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake. Eating this cake warm is unbelievably delicious. The recipe came from www.Foodista.com
I ended the day by working and looking forward to tomorrow - and a 2nd slice of cake.

Day 77:
Today – Tuesday – Joe is busy adding the moulding to the bathroom…

and the top of the kitchen cabinets…

while I was busy with work and home life… and I swear I spend so much of that time with Remi and Tisha – letting them outside and 2 minutes later, letting them back inside, feeding, calling, shushing, chasing and lots and lots of LOVING!

Sent a few listings and spoke with a few clients. Still, a quiet day. But I have so much to keep me busy!
With all the work that is being done in our kitchen and master bath, I can’t seem to catch up – although, I’m getting there.

Guess what? Today I went to…. Home Depot…. again! Purchased a few more items that were needed for Joe to finish our master bathroom.

Just about the entire time I drove into Danbury and back home to New Fairfield, I was on my cell with clients – all good news.

Day 72:
Pellet Stove in Living Room
Worked from home – then off to Home Depot – again – for more paint – and, since Joe moved our pellet stove – that we absolutely love – from the family room in the lower level – to the living room on the main level - I went to buy a woodburning stove. Well, after talking to a very knowledgeable Home Depot employee, I decided to go with an electric – cast-iron-looking stove. Since we really don’t use the family room on a daily basis – the kids are mostly in the main level den which has a fireplace. Adding the pellet stove to the living room, will help cut down on our heating costs – oil – and keep the main level cozy. OK – maybe now I’m just a tiny bit ready for cooler weather… maybe.
Electric Stove in Family Room – Tisha & Remi seem to like it!
K-104 Radio Station at Smalley’s Inn
Halloween is in the air for sure! This morning, on my way back home after dropping off my daughter at New Fairfield High School, Radio Station K-104 was airing Live from a Haunted place. I wasn’t sure where – until I heard them say Smalley’s.

I recently had lunch at Smalley’s Inn ~CLICK ~ which is located in Carmel, NY – with my 2 Realtor friends, Susan and Carolyn. The owner, Tony, gracious allowed me to take a few pictures and showed me his album full of photos and articles of peculiar sightings in his restaurant.
Do you see an orb in the mirror under the chandelier?
Originally built in 1883 and then rebuilt in 1924 after a fired burned the Inn to the ground. Many sightings have been noted. One of which is of a young child, which is believed to be Elizabeth Smalley, daughter of the original owner, James Smalley.

Elizabeth died when she was a young child and recently her tombstone was found in the basement where many witnesses have felt their clothes being tugged on and have seen ghostly figures. It is also said that James Smalley was also the sheriff and coroner of the town and that the morgue was located in the Inn’s basement.

During Halloween, Tony goes all out – decorating Smalley’s - adding to the SPOOOKINESS! To see – and feel – for yourself – Smalley’s Inn – 57 Gleneida Avenue – Carmel, NY 10512 – Phone: 845-225-9874
Almost half of all my photos came out like this – Hmmm??
