Easter Sunday!  We went down to my husband’s brother house in Mt.Vernon NY…

I spent the entire drive down texting and e-mailing clients – wishing them a Happy Easter!

We ate, and ate, and ate!

My Life as a Realtor ~

Day 79:

It’s Thursday – and my closing for tomorrow is confirmed – Yahoo!  I am so happy for my clients.  They are First Time Home Buyers and so looking forward to their first home.

More good news…  Fo-Fo – my in-law’s dog that we have been watching since June – left today – another Yahoo!   To everyone who didn’t know him, he looked like a cute Koala Bear – but get too close, and you’d lose a finger, or two!

Since my in-laws flew in from Portugal today, David gave Fo-Fo a bath and Joe drove him down to Mt. Vernon, NY.  He also had dinner with his family in celebration of their parents return.  The kids and I had a simple – easy – and inexpensive dinner – pasta.  I also sauted peppers, onion and spicy portuguese chorizo – Yum, Yum.  And Amanda made an oh-so-awesome Banana Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake.  Eating this cake warm is unbelievably delicious.  The recipe came from www.Foodista.com

I ended the day by working and looking forward to tomorrow -  and a 2nd slice of cake.

My Life as a Realtor – Day 31

My Life as a Realtor ~

Day 31:

An early start today since Joe, hubby hub, was leaving for Portugal!  We packed his suitcase, then he did a few things around the yard – we had lunch, dropped off Amanda at a birthday party in the Candlewood Lake neighborhood and then made our way to Mt. Vernon.  I got lucky and didn’t have to drive all the way to Newark Airport in New Jersey.  Joe and our brother-in-law planned to leave on the same day, so, our nephew, Michael,  drove them. Whew!  I was really, REALLY greatful that I did not have to drive more than I did in the storm.  Which, when we left New Fairfield, was just a simple sprinkle.  Then we arrived in Mt. Vernon – where Frank was waiting for us – when we looked up at the sky, this is what we saw…

As they frantically got their suitcases into Michael’s car, I couldn’t help but think I better hurry and say my goodbye’s since I had an almost hour ride ahead of me.

This is the lovely view when I approached the Cross County Parkway.  I made it to the office to finish preparing for an evening CMA on condo to list for sale in Danbury. 

When I left, I couldn’t help but think how nice, really, really nice these people were – I have been very fortunate lately with all my clients – they are awesome!

My Life as a Realtor – Day 18

My Life as a Realtor ~

Day 18:

It’s Saturday ~ I love the weekend!  Today, I came down to the kitchen, had my coffee and worked for awhile with no interruptions – Melissa was in Rhode Island, the other kids were still asleep -  and so was hubby hub since he had come in from work at around 7am.  He’s been driving his motorcycle to and from work in NYC since his car is… well, gone.   We haven’t heard yet from our insurance company - Allstate – to see if the car is salvageable - a Mazda 3 which Joe called his “Zoom-zoom”.

After a few phone calls with clients and other agents – we got ready for a barbecue at Joe’s brother house – Manny and Gina – in Mt.Vernon, NY - which is where  I was born and raised and everytime I go down to visit with my in-laws, I’m reminded of my childhood.

So many wonderful memories.  I was extremely fortunate to have had the family I had – we weren’t perfect, nothing  is – but having been raised by my loving, hard working parents, who came over from Portugal, made me who I am today.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s almost Thanksgiving – and I’ll have about 30 somewhat family and friends over.  So it’s not 1, but 2 Turkeys that I will be roasting and many potatoes to be peeled, boiled and mashed along with preparing some treats to be served when my hungry guests arrive – some of which will be traveling up I-684 from Mt. Vernon, NY.  Others will be coming from Brookfield, CT and my sis lives here in New Fairfield, CT – just minutes away from my home.

My Summer Favorites and More! (2)

Isn’t summer great?!  I must say that some of my fondest childhood memories are during the summer time!   Maybe because school was out, the weather was warm, lots of family gatherings and outdoor activities – like the yearly Italian Feasts my elementary school always held – good old Our Lady of Victory in Mt. Vernon, NY.  Going to Tibbitts Brook Pool in Yonkers, NY and to Glen Island Beach in New Rochelle, NY.   And, one of my most FAVORITE memories is going to the movies to watch JAWS.  I was 10 years old and that movie STILL sends chills up my spine!  I LOVE the summer!

Memorial Day – Weekend – Light Up the BBQ!

 Can you believe it’s Memorial Day – weekend already!  I tend to associate this time with going to the beach – which most people do – BUT, it’s too cold!  Although, it’s perfect weather for having the family over for a barbecue!

 If your looking for tips on what to make – or what to bring – The Food Network has great ideas like – Corn, Avocado & Tomato Salad, Long Island Green Tea and Banana Smores!  One good tip is to maybe just pick 1 or 2 new recipes to incorporate into your menu.  Also, plan ahead, make a list and have the kids help. And most importantly, make sure your guests have a designated driver.

My husband and I will be having our families over – his coming up from Mount Vernon, NY and my brother coming from Brookfield, CT and my sister making a very long trip from her home to mine…  just 5 minutes away in New Fairfield, CT!

 I wish you and your family a happy and safe Memorial Day – Weekend!
