My Life as a Realtor – Day 165
My Life as a Realtor ~
Day 165:
Holidays are over – Whew! The New Year is here and it’s looking good – Thank God.
Worked for a bit, a tiny bit, then my mother, sister and I went out for some shopping and lunch….
Our first stop was Kohl’s in Danbury…
Then to a yummy lunch at Apple Bee’s….
Our last stop was to one of my favorite stores, HomeGoods!
My Life as a Realtor – Day 160

Day 160:
It snowed today – bummer – just when almost all of it was melted! Although, I must admit, the large-fluffy snowflakes were pretty…
After breakfast, my mom and I set out to Brewster, NY for errands – the liquor store, lunch and the bank…
During this time, I received e-mails regarding appointments on 2 of my listings and a call from a client who has finally sold his home in Florida – Congrats Norm and Carol!
Then, off to Danbury, CT for grocery shopping at ShopRite – Wahoo… New Years is in the air!
My Life as a Realtor – Day 150

Day 150:
Friday and once again work-work-work… shop-shop-shop… wrap-wrap-wrap… and an appointment today. It had been scheduled for Saturday, but do to the expected snow storm, we are going out today!
It turned out to be an early evening appointment at Rivington in Danbury, CT. There are some new and a few resale units up for sale. All were beautiful and a pleasure to show!
Here are a few photos I took during a previous appointment…

Day 147:
Drove the girls to school this morning and boy was it foggy…
Then back home to do some on-line work – phone calls and more wrapping – my mom and I took off for Danbury Power Sports to pick up a battery for our four-wheeler. Every winter, Joe hooks up the plow to the four-wheeler for the snow removal on our driveway. Having to do it by hand would take forever and having to pay is silly – and - I know Joe and David love going out and “crash” into the snow – it’s a guy thing I guess.
Since the batteries are not charged since they can not be delivered with acid, we had to come back to pick it up after 3 hours – so off to more shopping! We decided to stay close by and chose the Christmas Tree Shop. There, we picked up some more Christmas colored tissue paper, napkins and a few things for my grab bags – which are coming along nicely.
On our way home, mom and I enjoyed seeing more and more Christmas lights and decorations through out – here is one of a Christmas Tree that is placed and lit – every year at the highest point of this building…
My Life as a Realtor – Day 145
My Life as a Realtor ~
Day 145:
Yesterday, after Christmas shopping ALL DAY… I came home and wrapped gifts for about 4 hours! What kept me going, was watching – It’s a Wonderful Life - Oh how I LOVE this movie.
Today, no appointments, so I did some work – then my mom and I went to Wal-Mart in Danbury, CT. Found a few more gifts for my grab bags, an X-Box video game for Jonathan and took advantage of Wal-Marts great prices for some needed everyday items.
To appreciate all that you have in these difficult times, my suggestion to you is to watch – It’s a Wonderful Life…
If you have never watched this touching movie, please do not view this next video – it is of the end, my favorite part and I wouldn’t want to spoil the ending for you…
As I get older, the meaning of life grows deeper and every year, watching the end of “It’s a Wonderful Life”, makes me cry my eyes out more and more! I hope you have a tissue box nearby.
My Life as a Realtor – Day 144

Day 144:
It’s Saturday and my mom, sister and I are going Christmas shopping! My sister drove – she is my favorite sister… well, she’s my only sister! Anyhow, she not only drove, but she treated us to lunch and patiently kept us out shopping until we could no longer feel our feet! Thankfully, I was glad to be able to communicate with clients through my cell phone so I had no worries that someone sent me an e-mail and I wouldn’t be able to see it until getting home.
We hit a few stores in Danbury, CT. Our first was Marshalls - where I did most of my shopping. Then, after lunch, I ran into Staples to drop off my empty ink cartridges. Then to Homegoods for… more shopping! A quick stop at the liquor store for wine for dinner and then to TJ Maxx. And our last stop was at Target.
Picking out a few movies at Target
We had a long – fun – feet aching – loads of shopping – Holi-Day!

Day 142:
A good day – did some work from home – then my mother and I made our way into Danbury, CT. We did a few errands – one was shopping at Costco.
My mom – looking at the televisions…
While I looked at the computers…
My Life as a Realtor – Day 120
My Life as a Realtor ~
Day 120:
It’s Friday – and I have to go buy my Turkeys – notice Turkey is plural - I will be roasting 2 medium-sized Turkeys – carving one and leaving the other as my table decor – at least until it’s needed.
Stop n Shop in Danbury has Butterball Turkeys - frozen for .89 cents per pound – and fresh for $1.39 per pound – that is where I will be purchasing them.
In the middle of work, I was talking to my youngest daughter, Sara. How I got into “It’s Raining Men” by the Weather Girls started – I have no idea. Sara didn’t recognize the song, especially since I was trying to sing it and being that she is only 16 and this song and video was from 1984 – 25 years ago – so to You Tube we went and boy did we have fun watching this music video!
Then it was back to work – dinner and time to get ready for Bunco with the Bunco Babes! Right after eating and getting ready to leave for our monthly game, our power went out – my entire block had a black out! Only 3 kids were home and Hubby-Hub was working through the night. So, we lit some candles, listened to some music and told some ghost stories! Then I left for Bunco – my sister picked me up and we enjoyed our evening.

Day 113:
Hey – Day 113 on Friday the 13th! Whatever that means…
Met with my clients in Southbury, CT to do the walk-thru. They are so excited to finally be homeowners. We first met a few years back when I helped them with a rental. And now they are purchasing a home.
We arrived at the home at the same time, walking right up to the front door since that is where the lockbox was located – hanging from the front door knob which was behind a storm door – which was locked! We checked every door, window – everything was locked! We looked for a spare key under rocks, in bird feeders – everywhere and NO KEY! In the meantime, I had contacted the listing agent but since this was an estate – the only key was in the lockbox! Thankfully, the brother of the previous owner had a key – Whew! An hour and a half later, we were able to do the walk-thru.
In the meantime, I had dropped off Melissa at New Fairfield Auto Body to FINALLY pick up her car. She was so excited and the car looked great. NF Auto Body always takes very good care of us and I would highly recommend anyone to use their service!
Melissa’s Scion
Since the closing was scheduled for 5:30, I went home and did a few things both for work and home. Then I was off to the closing – the main event – a special event in P & K’s lives.
My Clients Closing Attorney’s Office – Joesph Saffi – Danbury, CT
My clients are now official HOMEOWNERS and I wish them many wonderful years in their new home!

Day 112:
Finally – Closing for my clients is fully confirmed for tomorrow! They are so relieved and I can’t wait to once again witness and know I was a part of the purchase of another First Time Home Buyer.
Since I had David’s car during the morning – it was errands on the top of my list. Bank - and the Office in Brewster, NY – and back to New Fairfield, CT to the Liquor Store for Wine – and Shaw’s for some more groceries and pellets…

For dinner, I made homemade Pizza and Soup – Yum! I worked until a little after midnight – big day tomorrow, so a decent amount of sleep is necessary – I’ll get a whole 6 hours! Ha! Then I wonder why I have bags under my eyes…
My Life as a Realtor – Day 111

Day 111:
Happy Veteran’s Day! and Happy Birthday Jonathan – my youngest turns 14 today!!
All the kids are home today – left them enjoying Jonathan’s gift – a new X-Box 360 - while I flew to the office – Century 21 VJF Realty – did some needed paperwork – then headed out to meet with my clients – First Time Home Buyers purchasing a home in Brewster, NY. Today was their inspection day!
All went well – Dennis with Mr. Inside Out – thoroughly inspected the home, even getting up on the roof – which some inspectors will not do – and discussing helpful tips on living with a home that has a well and septic system.
Google Imagery
Then I was off to the races! Picked up Melissa at the Danbury Fair Mall – she worked until 2pm and her car is still being repaired! Then stopped at the A & P in Danbury, CT .
Then home to make dinner – since it’s Jonathan’s Birthday, he got to choose – it was Meatballs and spaghetti. Afterwards, we had Ice Cream Cake and wished Jonathan a wonderful year!

My Life as a Realtor – Day 93

Day 93:
Another class today – Short Sales & Foreclosures – with Randy Templeman – an awesome instructor!

Faith drove and before making our way to Poughkeepsie, NY - we dropped off her adorable pup - Phinny – at Wags Doggie Daycamp & Boarding - in Danbury, CT. Wags has webcams so you can check in on your pups throughout the day!
Faith and Phinny
Then we attended our class – from 9am to 4:30pm - took a test – picked our crystal balls – a gift from Mr. Templeman - and made our way back in New Fairfield, CT to deal with our kids, pets, dinner, hubbies and home!

Day 83:
Columbus Day! Kids are off from school – I went into Danbury – then to the office… Century 21 VJF Realty - Home Depot… for the 10th time this month! My last stop before going home was A & P.
Home Depot
received a buyer call – Yahoo! – while I was in the office – someone looking for land – also got my listings together for tomorrow’s appointment with my First Time Home Buyer.
Joe is getting the house ready for winter – Ugh! He insulated Amanda and Sara’s outside bedroom wall that leads into the attic above the garage – no insulation - Mmmm – guess that’s why their room seems to always be chilly. Joe also painted the front doors and finished insulating all the windows around the doors. Maybe… just maybe, I won’t freeze my butt off this winter!

My Life as a Realtor – Day 80
My Life as a Realtor ~
Day 80:
Closing Day! Met with my client this morning to do the walk-through before closing.
A Rainy – but wonderful Closing Day!
We made sure all was well with the house and then headed to the attorney’s office in Danbury, CT.
The Closing Table
All went very well during the closing. Afterwards, it was back to work, grocery shopping, gassed up the car, and yes – do you really think I couldn’t go a few days without a trip to…
Home Depot!
I can’t wait to be done with all the painting and renovations! That is now what my clients will be doing with their new house - many trips to purchase items to make their new house a home!
My Life as a Realtor – Day 73

Day 73:
Guess what? Today I went to…. Home Depot…. again! Purchased a few more items that were needed for Joe to finish our master bathroom.

Just about the entire time I drove into Danbury and back home to New Fairfield, I was on my cell with clients – all good news.
Amanda took this photo as I was taking my shortcut from Danbury into New Fairfield

Day 62:
It was an exciting day for David – his official First Day of Work for Best Buy in Danbury! I am so proud of him…
David’s Best Buy Name Tag
OK, enough gushing – I was off to meet my new client. We started at 10′ish in the am – and ended at about 2′ish in the afternoon. We viewed 6 homes through out Patterson, NY – and - Carmel, NY.
One of the homes we viewed – Built in 1772
Then back home – many phone calls and e-mails to catch up on and soccer practice for Jon – and the 1st night of Dancing with the Stars!
My Life as a Realtor – Day 53
My Day as a Realtor ~
Day 53:
OK – Saturday – Joe is moving quickly with our kitchen renovation – we – or he – is painting the kitchen cabinets – Glidden’s Linen White – and a few more touches – real, real inexpensive and I can’t believe the difference already!

Today I was Joe’s right hand man – went to Home Depot in Brewster, NY for a few things…
Home Depot in Brewster, NY
Then to HomeDepot in Danbury, CT for a few more things…

Then to A & P in Brewster, NY for MORE groceries and MORE mums – hey, for $4 each, I couldn’t resist!

Throughout the day, I e-mailed and spoke with clients – then, Hubby-Hub and I – and my sis Lisa and brother-in-law, Richie – went out to dinner to the Portuguese Cultural Center in Danbury, CT – Caravela Restaurant. Good food, good wine, really good company!

My Life as a Realtor – Day 41
My Life as a Realtor ~
Day 41:
It is the last day of summer vacation for the kids. Melissa actually starts her college classes over at West Conn today – David tomorrow. And Amanda, Sara and Jonathan also start classes tomorrow at New Fairfield Middle and High School. I am not looking forward to having to get up very early – so working until the wee hours will have to change.
Made a quick run with Sara and Jonathan back to Marshall’s to exchange a pair of Jonathan’s jeans. Then stopped at Staples to pick up some school supplies – their actual lists will be given on the first few days of school from each teacher. After paying exactly $242.00 – I couldn’t help but think – this is only the beginning – I will be back at least another 2 more times! The good thing is, Staples always has what I need – but just in case, Wal-Mart is in the same shopping center as well as Marshall’s and HomeGoods – and it’s an easy 15 minutes or so drive from home!

Soccer practice for Jonathan started today. I am thankful that I live just under 5 minutes from the New Fairfield Schools -

Dinner was Meatballs and Spaghetti – Jonathan’s favorite and a change from all the grilling.
My Life as a Realtor – Day 40
My Life as a Realtor ~
Day 40:
Today – Melissa, David and Jonathan – came with me to the Danbury Fair Mall in Danbury. We needed to pick up Amanda’s contacts and order Melissa’s contacts from Cohen Optical…

Then we went to the Sprint store to purchase David a new cell phone – the Blackberry Curve. Then we grabbed a bite to eat – Chinese Buffet…

and then off to my sister’s home in New Fairfield. We went to see her new master bath – which is coming out BEAUTIFUL!! The white tile, nickel brushed faucets and accents, deep rich colored cabinetry and painted red walls – striking! Now I really want to renovate my master bath – but I can’t seem to get started on painting my kitchen cabinets.

Back home – and back to work.
My Life as a Realtor – Day 39
My Life as a Realtor ~
Day 39:
Another rainy day – so since we’re limited to doing indoor activities, it was back to finish up our school shopping. We did good yesterday, but we still needed sneakers and backpacks and a few other items to purchase. So it was off to Bob’s in Danbury – I had a great coupon to use, so deciding where to go was easy!
Afterwards, we passed by my brother’s home in Brookfield, CT. They have been renovating just about every room and I am amazed every time I go since there is always something new to see. My sister-in-law, Leia, has a knack for interior decorating and I am inspired and look forward to every visit.

Then it was back home – and back to work.
My Life as a Realtor – Day 38
My Life as a Realtor ~
Day 38:
A really, really easy day – and very well appreciated! Matt – from Tech Gurus – 646-867-0778 - came over to drop off David’s computer – he had just dropped off Melissa’s lap top a few day ago… what would we do without him. He comes to our house – charges near to nothing compared to shops that I’ve been to in the past and he is always available when I have a question about purchasing a new camera – web cam – and lap top or computer.
After working a bit in the morning – Amanda, Sara and I went school shopping to Marshall’s in Danbury. Awesome prices for lots of great clothes and shoes.
Amanda at Marshall’s
I believe most everyone is enjoying these last few days of summer vacation and busy getting kids ready for school since my cell phone only went off a few times with e-mails during the entire time I was out.
My Life as a Realtor – Day 36
My Life as a Realtor ~
Day 36:
Well, an easy day – work wasn’t very demanding today – only had about 20 phone calls – under 200 e-mails – wrote 2 Blog post – 1 Fax – and of course tending to the house, kids and pets filled in the rest of the day.
Drove Jonathan to Loews Movie Theatre in Danbury. He watched Shorts and then went to a friends.

David had to go to West Conn – so much involved in registering Melissa and David for college – maybe by our fifth child, I’ll be a pro!
Western Connecticut State University
For dinner – grilled chicken – one of my favorite foods to eat. Since school begins next week, Melissa and David have some friends over. Thankfully, they are all watching a movie and not making much noise. Tomorrow is a big day – since July 17th, my clients have been patiently waiting to close on their first home. Tomorrow is finally their big day!
