My Life as a Realtor – Day 175
My Life as a Realtor ~
Day 175:
At the top of our list of things to do today is - LAUNDRY! My mother and I took 8 loads to Laundry Plus in Brewster, NY – about 15 minutes from home.
We put everything to wash and took off to A&P for some grocery shopping – a few phone calls and e-mails came in during our adventure at the laundry mat!
After shopping, we went back to the laundry mat – threw everything into dryers and then went for a quick lunch – also in the same shopping center. Came back – folded and left to get gas and a stop at the Brewster Post Office.

Day 174:
Monday – and I have a Doctors appointment today in Mt. Kisco with the Mt. Kisco Medical Group. Usually, I’m seen in the Southeast office which is only about 20 minutes away, but it’s good to know that if someone needs to be seen right away, between both offices, you can get an appointment.
Before leaving, I had to drop off Sara at school and noticed the tree that was full of snow last week is bare now…
I have no idea why I noticed this and why I’m mentioning it – ??
After my doctor’s appointment, my mother and I stopped to do some laundry in Brewster, NY at Laundry Plus. My washer is only 10 months old and it’s not working – Hmmm… maybe it has something to do with the fact that I wash 4 to 6 loads a day! Well, we are a family of 7 and with my mom here visiting from Portugal for a few months – that makes 8 – so loads and loads of wash that I do a day is just inevitable. Having no washer for a few days is just impossible, so I decided to try out a laundry mat…
We washed one large load, just to try it out and decided to come back tomorrow with more after seeing that it is a clean, large, bright place with many washers – 4 different sizes – and dryers – as well as a television and sofas to sit and relax.

Day 172:
It’s a sunny – but cold – Saturday morning and I have an appointment in Brewster, NY.
My clients, which are first time home buyers, have a closing scheduled for next week and came over to the home to go over a few things with the current owners. One item on their list was to go through the plantings around the property. We walked through the snow and I could only imagine how beautiful the landscaping will be in the Spring. For today, we froze while tracking through the snow…

Day 169:
CLOSING DAY for my client!!
The closing was held in Carmel, NY at Attorney William Shillings office. Here are a few pics I took as I drove in Carmel…
Just a few minutes away from the attorney’ s office – I can see “The Retreat” on the horizon
and the Historic Putnam Court House
After the closing, my client was extremely excited and it was also exciting for me to be a part of this. As we said our goodbyes, I noticed a plaque on the wall…
“It’s a Wonderful Life” – One of my favorite movies and sayings!

Day 160:
It snowed today – bummer – just when almost all of it was melted! Although, I must admit, the large-fluffy snowflakes were pretty…
After breakfast, my mom and I set out to Brewster, NY for errands – the liquor store, lunch and the bank…
During this time, I received e-mails regarding appointments on 2 of my listings and a call from a client who has finally sold his home in Florida – Congrats Norm and Carol!
Then, off to Danbury, CT for grocery shopping at ShopRite – Wahoo… New Years is in the air!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!
The kids woke us up and made us a wonderful breakfast. Then it was time to head into the livingroom where our tree is…
and open our gifts…
even Remi had a few treats…
After opening gifts, we went into the Den, Joe made a fire and we looked in a stockings. Afterwards, he spotted a buck far in the woods…
Then, we got ourselves ready and made our way to my brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Manny & Gina’s house in Mt. Vernon, NY. While Joe drove, I text and e-mailed clients – past and present – to wish them a Very Merry Christmas!
From Left to Right… My nephews ~ Michael & Andrew, Sons ~ Jonathan and David, Daughters ~ Sara, Amanda & Melissa, Niece ~ Daniella and Nephews ~ Daniel & Pedro
We ate, and ate… and ate. Then it was time to go upstairs by the Christmas Tree…
and Baby Jesus…
We opened more gifts and then took a few more family photos. Here is my hubby’s sister and brother…
Joe’s brother Manny, sister Isabel and Joe
And our kids…
From oldest to youngest ~ Melissa, David, Amanda, Sara and Jonathan
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
My Life as a Realtor – Day 130
My Life as a Realtor ~
Day 130:
It’s Sunday – I can not believe how quickly this long weekend has gone!
Meeting new potential clients today – showing them 1 house in Brewster, NY and then moving unto New Fairfield, CT for a few homes there. Stopped at the office before heading out and was able to accomplish a few things…
Meeting new potential clients is always exciting. These were a young couple with a small child and one on the way and interested in moving further north. Currently, they have their home on the market and are looking into different areas of New York and Connecticut.
After our last showing – in New Fairfield, CT – we passed the town hall where the Lighting of the Tree ceremony was happening. Christmas is in the air!
Cell Phone Pic – while driving - of some decorations going up in town

Day 127:
Oh boy – the day after Thanksgiving – I am stuffed… and everyone is coming back since I made 2 turkey’s and we only ate one!
So, a little cleaning and a little more cooking – to have a few fresh dishes – and a quick stop over in Patterson, NY to a clients home. D invited me over for a drink and to view the lovely things she’s done to the home in just a few months time. Unfortunately, because my guests were arriving, I had to leave early – but first I enjoyed her homemade chicken soup (I had that instead of a drink!)
Our guests arrived and we enjoyed another wonderful evening… Remi too!

Day 124:
The countdown to Thanksgiving continues – as does work.
Today I had to meet with an appraiser to give him access to the home my client is looking to purchase in Patterson, NY.

Day 117:
Class day in Elmsford, NY again. Faith graciously drove again…
We were greeted by Scott Einbinder before his 4 hour class for Century 21 agents – on making our services as Realtors better for our Buyers/Clients…
Since I have attended numerous seminars, most of what is gone over in class is repetitive, although - with Scott there are always a few “Ah, ha” moments. Because of this, I will always do my best to attend as many classes, seminars, motivational speeches,… to be the best Realtor I could possibly be - As long as I have some caffeine…
After class, we stopped at the office – then home – and back out to the bank – supermarket – picked up some wine and my daughter’s dry cleaning – back home – dinner – cleaning and ended the day with some of my favorite programs on television while working on my laptop. Monday is over!
My Life as a Realtor – Day 112
My Life as a Realtor ~
Day 112:
Finally – Closing for my clients is fully confirmed for tomorrow! They are so relieved and I can’t wait to once again witness and know I was a part of the purchase of another First Time Home Buyer.
Since I had David’s car during the morning – it was errands on the top of my list. Bank - and the Office in Brewster, NY – and back to New Fairfield, CT to the Liquor Store for Wine – and Shaw’s for some more groceries and pellets…

For dinner, I made homemade Pizza and Soup – Yum! I worked until a little after midnight – big day tomorrow, so a decent amount of sleep is necessary – I’ll get a whole 6 hours! Ha! Then I wonder why I have bags under my eyes…
My Life as a Realtor – Day 111

Day 111:
Happy Veteran’s Day! and Happy Birthday Jonathan – my youngest turns 14 today!!
All the kids are home today – left them enjoying Jonathan’s gift – a new X-Box 360 - while I flew to the office – Century 21 VJF Realty – did some needed paperwork – then headed out to meet with my clients – First Time Home Buyers purchasing a home in Brewster, NY. Today was their inspection day!
All went well – Dennis with Mr. Inside Out – thoroughly inspected the home, even getting up on the roof – which some inspectors will not do – and discussing helpful tips on living with a home that has a well and septic system.
Google Imagery
Then I was off to the races! Picked up Melissa at the Danbury Fair Mall – she worked until 2pm and her car is still being repaired! Then stopped at the A & P in Danbury, CT .
Then home to make dinner – since it’s Jonathan’s Birthday, he got to choose – it was Meatballs and spaghetti. Afterwards, we had Ice Cream Cake and wished Jonathan a wonderful year!

Day 109:
Early – really, really early wake up time for me today – Ugh! Faith picked me up at around 5:20 – AM! to meet with Linda, Eva and Faith. We made our way from Brewster, NY to Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino in Uncasville, CT for Century 21 annual New England Fall Fest. Did I mention we left really, really early.

This all day event started with breakfast and trade show – I purchased a blouse with the Century 21 logo – hope it fits. We moved on to a motivational speech, breakout sessions and a lovely lunch in the middle of it all.

Before heading home, we decided to take advantage of being at a casino and gamble! I spent a whole 5 bucks. Yup - 5 whole dollars!

After a day of Education – Motivation – Eating – and fun, we made our way back home…

Day 106:
Wednesday - Workshop day again. Faith picked me up and drove to the office to pick up Eva and Carolyn. We set off for Elmsford, NY – looking forward to another informative class.

Today, we discussed different ways on Obtaining Price Reductions. The market has changed and we all need to adapt.
I must admit, sitting for 4 hours can make me get very jittery – Thank goodness for out lunch break!

Day 100:
Wow! I can’t believe I made it to Day 100! Writing about my (Yawn!) Life as a Realtor has been fun. Showing how multi-tasking my Life and Real Estate and how much I enjoy making this work and how I look forward to our market rebounding!!
Patterson, NY Town Hall
Well, today, Thursday, was a good day. One of my clients, who is purchasing his first home in Patterson, NY, met with his mortgage broker and contracts are awaiting his signature. Another couple/clients of mine are in the process of negotiating on a beautiful home in Brewster, NY. And, a lovely couple, also purchasing their first home in Southbury, CT, are anxiously waiting for a commitment from their bank. I have my fingers crossed! Also, my clients/sellers and I are going out on Saturday to view a few homes in anticipation that they receive an offer soon – therefore allowing them to purchase soon! Other clients are staying in touch via e-mail – inquiring on listings and waiting to hear if the tax credit will be extended. Well, it looks like it will! And not only for First-Time Home Buyers – more info will be announced and I can’t wait!

Day 98:
It’s a cool, rainy Tuesday. Went into the office and accomplished a few errands – including a trip to A & P in Brewster…

and a trip to buy some wine – looked into Sardinian wine - I’ve heard is dark, rich and has the highest levels of antioxidants.
Brewster Liquors
Then back to juggle work and home life.
My Life as a Realtor – Day 97
My Life as a Realtor ~
Day 97:
Monday – looks like rain – Ugh!
Home today – working, cleaning, cooking, … I feel as though that is all I do – and you know what? I Love it!
Joe stopped at his mom and dads in Mt. Vernon, NY. His mom has a brick oven that she bakes bread in - Yumo! Too bad I have developed food allergies to wheat and corn – so no more homemade bread for me :-(
Joe’s dad had gone apple picking and sent us a bunch of delicious apples – I plan on making caramel apples for our Halloween Party at my brother’s house on Saturday.

And that brings up the problem of Halloween. It is in just a few days and I don’t have a costume! I am trying to do this on a budget – so I will probably just use something we have at home – I could be a Witch, Cat, Tiger – hey, we have a Batman and Pirate costume! Oh, and… we have a Jason mask from the movie “Friday the 13th”. Man, I still get creeped out when I watch that movie – and Michael Meyers in the movie “Halloween” . No other movies scare me more than these two. It may be because when I first watched them, I was young and they scared the heck out of me. Even as a mother of 5 and being 44 years old – watching these horror flicks brings those frightful memories, which come rushing back and make me feel like a scared child again. Maybe I need therapy?
Watch below… if you dare!
Oh my!
Really, the sounds and music in both of these movies send chills up my spine!

Day 93:
Another class today – Short Sales & Foreclosures – with Randy Templeman – an awesome instructor!

Faith drove and before making our way to Poughkeepsie, NY - we dropped off her adorable pup - Phinny – at Wags Doggie Daycamp & Boarding - in Danbury, CT. Wags has webcams so you can check in on your pups throughout the day!
Faith and Phinny
Then we attended our class – from 9am to 4:30pm - took a test – picked our crystal balls – a gift from Mr. Templeman - and made our way back in New Fairfield, CT to deal with our kids, pets, dinner, hubbies and home!

Day 92:
It’s Wednesday and a few of us from the office are going for a training class at the Hampton Inn in Elmsford, NY.

Faith was kind enough to drive.

After having some much needed coffee, our class on How to Better Handle Our Listings started. Much that was said was repetition, but we do try to attend all training classes since the market is always changing and different instructors have their own unique way of teaching – so I take from each to make up my own way of assisting my sellers and buyers.

Day 79:
It’s Thursday – and my closing for tomorrow is confirmed – Yahoo! I am so happy for my clients. They are First Time Home Buyers and so looking forward to their first home.

More good news… Fo-Fo – my in-law’s dog that we have been watching since June – left today – another Yahoo! To everyone who didn’t know him, he looked like a cute Koala Bear – but get too close, and you’d lose a finger, or two!

Since my in-laws flew in from Portugal today, David gave Fo-Fo a bath and Joe drove him down to Mt. Vernon, NY. He also had dinner with his family in celebration of their parents return. The kids and I had a simple – easy – and inexpensive dinner – pasta. I also sauted peppers, onion and spicy portuguese chorizo – Yum, Yum. And Amanda made an oh-so-awesome Banana Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake. Eating this cake warm is unbelievably delicious. The recipe came from www.Foodista.com
I ended the day by working and looking forward to tomorrow - and a 2nd slice of cake.
K-104 Radio Station at Smalley’s Inn
Halloween is in the air for sure! This morning, on my way back home after dropping off my daughter at New Fairfield High School, Radio Station K-104 was airing Live from a Haunted place. I wasn’t sure where – until I heard them say Smalley’s.

I recently had lunch at Smalley’s Inn ~CLICK ~ which is located in Carmel, NY – with my 2 Realtor friends, Susan and Carolyn. The owner, Tony, gracious allowed me to take a few pictures and showed me his album full of photos and articles of peculiar sightings in his restaurant.
Do you see an orb in the mirror under the chandelier?
Originally built in 1883 and then rebuilt in 1924 after a fired burned the Inn to the ground. Many sightings have been noted. One of which is of a young child, which is believed to be Elizabeth Smalley, daughter of the original owner, James Smalley.

Elizabeth died when she was a young child and recently her tombstone was found in the basement where many witnesses have felt their clothes being tugged on and have seen ghostly figures. It is also said that James Smalley was also the sheriff and coroner of the town and that the morgue was located in the Inn’s basement.

During Halloween, Tony goes all out – decorating Smalley’s - adding to the SPOOOKINESS! To see – and feel – for yourself – Smalley’s Inn – 57 Gleneida Avenue – Carmel, NY 10512 – Phone: 845-225-9874
Almost half of all my photos came out like this – Hmmm??
